Journey to Mars: Intro into the Mind of Elon Musk

Today marks a prime milestone in the era of space discovery. Elon Musk’s company, Space X, launched two NASA astronauts into Earth’s orbit- for the first time in nine years.

Musk is most commonly known for his electric vehicle company, Tesla; but he also has many other projects he avidly pursues. Some projects he is currently working on include tunnels, artificial intelligence/competitive gaming, Not a Flamethrower, prosthetics/medicine, and infrastructure/real estate.

Personally, I didn’t know much about Musk’s companies or mission statement(s) regarding the overall well being of the human race. Only in the last few months have I been more active in learning about his many companies, strategy, and his work ethic. Being personally interested in robotics and artificial intelligence, I found my research to be tremendously beneficial and believe Musk to be an exceedingly admirable engineer and businessman. He works between 85-100 hours a week between his five companies, all with a family, and has learned how to invest his time in the most efficient ways.

Musk builds his companies with the intentions of helping and improving the overall public. His company Tesla is working towards creating environmentally-friendly, affordable cars that the “average man” can access to make his/her life more enjoyable, while helping the earth as much as possible along the way.

Similar to Tesla, SpaceX was created to reintroduce space travel in a more effective manner. Launched in 2002, the company is actively finding ways to reduce the cost of spaceflight to make colonizing Mars a reality. Working in a fast-paced environment with set goals helps Musk and his team to make ideas that were once dreams a reality. He is truly an inspiration and will, without a doubt, leave a positive impact on our world.

“Failure is an option here.

If things are not failing, you are not innovating.”
